Section 3: Applications and recruitment

Postby Psychomantis » Sun Sep 11, 2011 3:59 pm

We are currently accepting Limited applications. Our applications fall into two major subsections: Members, and raiders. Members are denoted as a player who joins SDM to contribute to the guild community, enjoy the company of friends and family, and brought in to enhance our casual play environment. Raiders are denoted as players who aspire and perform to clear end game content to its fullest extent, focusing on the improvement our the individual player as well as the team as a whole.

Your forum id needs to be the same as your character name, if it is not then you will need to request it be changed to the appropriate name. If you failed to read this before registering with our website please send a PM to Psychomantis or Bezine to resolve the issue.

MEMBER, FRIENDS & FAMILY APPLICATIONS:
1. All new applications are required to have a current member in good standing sponsor their application. If you have such a sponsor, mention that after listing your characters in the application (and make sure you contact them first).
2. In addition, new applicants are required to have an endorsement from at least two other full current members of the guild, besides their most immediate guild Sponsor (who must also endorse the application). These should be solid recommendations, and these individuals ought to post their overall picture of the person to the applicant's thread. These shouldn't be simply "I grouped with them, once, they were OK", though certainly a series of interactions including groups and instances would be relevant. Applicants have one week from the post date to aquire endorsements. If endorsement cannot be acquired, application will be declined.
3. Some relaxation of constraint will be accommodated for Partners/Spouses, first degree relatives (Parents, siblings).
4. F&F is applied to people known outside of wow (IRL), not someone you group with all the time. This only requires one* endorsements of full current members of the guild, as well as their most immediate Guild Sponsor (who must also endorse the application). Applicants have one week from the post date to acquire endorsements. If endorsement cannot be acquired, application will be declined.
5. Once Invited Applicant will undergo a 30 day "roadie" period , In which their fit in the guild will be evaluated by all full members.

*This may be overridden at the discretion of the Officer Core.

F&F are not raiders. F&F usually grants a quick acceptance and shortened review time, however if you are a F&F and wish to raid, you may after your roadie period is over apply to be a raider but there is no guarantee that positions will be available . Feel free to contact an officer for details.

Again, even if an applicant meets these requirements, SDM reserves the right to decline member applications at any time. In the future, we may relax this policy, but for now this stands as we take time to critically evaluate our current pool of talent and individuals.

The member application template can be found below as well as the Raider application template below that.

Section 3: Member Application Template.

Postby Psychomantis » Sun Sep 11, 2011 4:01 pm

Please create a new topic in this forum (application dartboard forum).

In the Subject field please follow this format [member] name lvl class
Ex: "[Member] Psychomantis 85 Priest"
Friends and Family Please Include [F&F] in your topic
Ex: "[F&F][Member] Chiefdeville 85 Warrior"

In the Body Field please copy and paste the following template, and complete the answers.

1. Please List the character(s) that you wish to apply to SDM with, their level and their class

2. Please list the name of your guild sponsor.

3. What Other Guilds have you been in, and why did you leave?

4. What Age group do you fit into? [14 and under] [15-18] [19-35] [36 - Old enough to know better]

5. What is your primary interests and/or goals within the game? (Examples might include, "I like playing on alts typically half the time," "I spend most of my time PvPing," "I only log on for raids," or "small instances are my bread and butter - but I like to raid on weekends." Be specific.)

6. Please describe a time when you had a conflict (personal or otherwise) with another guild member/player, and how you dealt with that conflict. Think hard. "I don't get into conflicts with people," is NOT an answer.

7. If you are offered membership status with SDM, what would you expect to do while here? What do you expect to do for the guild, and what do you expect the guild to do for you? Treat this question seriously.

8. What is the historical importance of December 7, 1941?

9. What is IPv4?

** NOTE **
Do you plan to raid at least once a week with the guild regardless of whether it is a sanctioned raid or not? If so, please consider whether you really mean to submit a raider application instead.

Please List the character(s) that you wish to apply to SDM with, a link to your armory (logged off in Main Spec PVE gear), and indicate if you have a geared secondary spec if applicable. Also please describe your role and what you can bring to the raid.
Note: While some of our groups will not require you to be a certain spec or have a particular secondary spec available it may be required that you are not just flexible but also knowledgeable of another spec to be considered for a particular team.

2. You
What Age group do you fit into? [14 and under] [15-18] [19-35] [36 - Old enough to know better]

This question relates to what you want to accomplish from Raiding with SDM. Do you just want to casually raid when you are available to gear out, do you want to raid steadily and progress through normal modes, or do you want to put in the extra time and effort even through wipes to push heroic modes? There is no right or wrong answer and it doesn't have to match the examples above, we just want to know where you may fit in with the various teams we have available.

7. Team Speak 3
Do you have Discord and a working microphone? This is important of course to both listen attentively to the Raid Leader as well as be vocal when necessary during raids.

Re: Section 3: Main & Alt Characters Policy

Postby Psychomantis » Mon Jul 02, 2012 6:11 pm

Admittance to SDM does not require the addition of your alternative characters to the guild however it is greatly encouraged to enhance your experience with the SDM community.
The removal of mains from the guild requires the immediate removal of all alts from the guild as well.
Removing alts from the guild is not against guild policy however in cases where we believe it creates a conflict in interests or diminishes guild pride and loyalty an officer can choose to review your standing in the guild.

Your main is considered the character you applied with. We understand interests can change so mains can as well.

Raiders - Changing your main requires approval of the raid team leader(s). In the case of a 20 man if EPGP or another point system is being used for loot distribution then changing mains may result in your DKP being reset. In the 10 man roll based environment any penalties are left to the discretion of the team leader.

Members - Members do not require changing mains based on which characters they decide to play more often however they can request the change if they wish. Any member who later attempts to become a raider will require the character they are applying with to become there main.
